We are overjoyed to introduce our son, George James! He was born on November 20th at 6:13pm, weighing 6lbs, 14oz and measuring 20.5 inches long (our longest baby!). He looks most like his oldest sister Quinn, with very similar eyes and a head full of light brown hair. All three older kids were absolutely beaming the first time they met him and haven’t wanted to put him down since he came home!
George came into the world after the most peaceful, snowy day delivery. I had hoped to go into labor on my own but in the end, we opted to induce labor for a myriad of reasons. It ended up being such a blessing. My labor was so calm and healing after Ivy’s traumatic delivery. Ryne and I played cards all day while it snowed outside and Hallmark Christmas movies played on the TV. My contractions got going after just one oral dose of prostaglandins. Half-way through my eight-hour labor, I asked for the epidural and I was pain-free until the end.
The last week has absolutely flown by. We came home from the hospital late Tuesday night and then Thursday was Thanksgiving. We’ve been so blessed by the generosity of friends and family who have kept us well-fed and feeling so loved and supported! I am honoring my body’s need for rest this time and soaking up every moment of newborn snuggles humanly possible.
