We are home from a snowy weekend in the Rocky Mountains with the kiddos. It can be such a challenge to keep everyone entertained in the winter months, so we thought this would be a fun way to shake things up! My dad and step-mom joined us for a couple of nights, so it was even more fun to spend time with them doing nothing but relaxing, playing games by the fire, & enjoying the view! We stayed in a two-bedroom connecting suite with a family room and a kitchenette, which was perfect with little kids.
The mountains got nearly five feet of snow while we were there, which made our time so magical (and our drive crazy!). We did lots of sledding, drank champagne, ate cookies, and danced to the live music in the lobby every afternoon, got the kids’ faces painted, and played some highly competitive board games every night. I haven’t been sledding in years and seriously had the BEST time playing in the snow with my kids! On our last night, we took the big kids to the hot tub after Ivy went to bed. They had so much fun splashing around in the warm water while it snowed around us. It was beautiful and serene and it felt like magic being made.
The trip made Ryne and I really excited to ski again and we may just need to plan a trip up to the mountains next year (sans kids) for a little weekend fun 🙂 Quinn is already asking when she can learn to ski and I’m thinking we may need to make mountain trips a regular thing.
