I feel like I have just now recovered from my turkey/pumpkin pie/cranberry sauce hangover. Our Thanksgiving was surprisingly mellow. Quinn woke up early so the three of us snuck downstairs to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade while the rest of the house was still dreaming of dancing sugarplums. Quinn is obsessed with Thomas the Train, so she was over the moon to see that he was in the parade this year. Glitter Dot Sleeper
After a little breakfast and a couple mimosas we started making the hors d’oeuvres and pies for dinner at my dad’s house. As always, Quinn was the perfect sous chef. Ryne and I are total beginners when it comes to cooking, so easy recipes are a must! We used pre-made crusts so we could focus on the pie filling, which we made from scratch (recipe here).
I’ve been dying to try this chicken buffalo meatball recipe. It may not fall into a traditional Thanksgiving food group but as it turns out it was just enough deviation from the norm for everyone to enjoy. Out of 60 meatballs there were literally 3 left in the pot by the end of the night. So delicious!
During Q’s nap we took a little field trip over to the new house so we could finally see the view from our “windows” during the daylight. As you can see, the roof is on. The stairs came in tow a few days later. Quinn loved spending the weekend in a house full of family and friends. Ryne and I can’t wait to host all of the chaos and joy that comes with the holidays in our new home next year.Penguin Sweater // Red Pants // B&W Striped Bow // Polka Dot Toms (last year)
The rest of the weekend we managed to get most of our Christmas shopping done, decorated the tree, watched my favorite Christmas movie of all time- Christmas Vacation(!) and we soaked up the unseasonably warm weather.Hat // Green Peplum Coat (Gap last year)
Another Thanksgiving has come and gone and as always, we have so much to be thankful for. Now it’s officially time to decorate for Christmas!
