We took a quick trip to Scottsdale over the weekend in hopes of enjoying a little heat and some good food. It has been a brutal winter in Colorado with long spans of cold weather and very little snow melt, which is very atypical for a Colorado winter! Unfortunately, Arizona was not warm. The high was in the mid-50’s but the kids still wanted to swim every day. We still enjoyed lots of good food and enjoyed getting out of dodge for the weekend.
Where we stayed:
JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn. It was beautiful and clean. Their in-house restaurant was delicious all times of day and they have a Starbucks on the property! This hotel is made up of casitas, so you have to walk or take a golf cart to get to the lobby, restaurants, and pool. The pool was large, but the hot kid-friendly hot tub was further away from the kid pool than the adult hot tub. At the back of the property was a mini wild west “town” with faux merchant buildings and a jail. The kids had lots of fun walking through it and just beyond that is a small hiking area.
Where we ate:
- Rita’s- on-property Mexican cantina. We had the buffet breakfast here every day. The kids loved it and it was super easy for Mom and Dad. We also had a delicious dinner here the first night because our flight landed late. Highly recommend their house margarita!
- Call Her Martina- a pretty, fun, modern Mexican place. Ryne and I both had the Cochinita Cazuela. It was delicious and big enough that we definitely could have shared one.
- Nobu- so stunning and the most amazing sushi, but pricey! We ate at a sister restaurant in Aspen and LOVED IT! So we knew we had to go. Even the kids enjoyed it, except for Ivy who slept through the whole meal.
- Publico Italian- Not as beautiful. It was in a strip mall and I seriously considered bailing at the last minute, but the food was good. The kids loved it and we all went home with full tummies.
- Jenni’s Ice Cream- very fun, non-traditional flavors. I had salted peanut ice cream- so delicious.
