New house #2

Well, we bought a new, new house! We are definitely more than a little crazy. This will undeniably extend our building process time and subsequently the length of time we live with my parents. Lord help us all! Like the last house, this empty piece of ground is a blank slate with tentative plans for a finished product sometime in late spring/early summer of next year. I imagine it will be finished after graduation but I’m hoping before the 4th of July. Pray for a warm winter, friends!

So how did this happen? It started with good intentions for a little bit of much needed exercise. I haven’t been on a run since just after I found out I was pregnant with Quinn. The pregnancy left me with constant pain in my knee and I’ve been afraid to lace up ever since I finished physical therapy. But a few weeks ago the sky looked like it was on fire and I couldn’t resist a run through a nearby neighborhood with incredible mountain views. It didn’t take much to convince Ryne to come with me. These days we are creepily taking advantage of every opportunity we have to go look at other peoples’ homes in hopes of getting some ideas for our new place.

So there we are, running along, watching the sun extinguish itself behind the Rockies and as we round the corner onto an unfinished street we see an “Available” sign staked in one of the vacant lots. I turn to Ryne and only half-jokingly tell him he should call on Monday and find out what floor plans can be built on that lot. As we made our way home that night we talked ourselves back to reality and agreed that someday our goal would be to live in that dream neighborhood with incredible views.

Monday morning rolls around and I get an email at work from Ryne saying that we can put any floor plan we want on the available lot. A quick 24 hours of weighing pros and cons, we decided to make the switch and bought the new new-build home with the incredible view and with it an additional 7 months of living with my parents. Ouch! Here’s to hoping it will all be worth it to eventually see this view every day.
