Projected move-in date: 2nd-3rd week of July. It’s amazing how quickly that date can get pushed back. This time, it’s because of our cabinets. The cabinets were supposed to arrive at the end of May. Now, due to a paint shortage, they are unlikely to arrive until the beginning of July if we order today (which is not going to happen).
Progress this month(ish): The remainder of our HVAC, plumbing, and electrical was completed. But the biggest news is- we passed our 4-way inspection! This month we managed to order windows, transoms, interior doors, exterior doors, garage doors, door handles, deadbolts, faucets, sinks, shower and tub plumbing, toilets, sinks, tubs, a new washer/dryer, wallpaper and tile for the powder room, our engineered wood floors, a handful of light fixtures, and a new doorbell chime. Oh, and we had a new water heater installed. Whew!
Up next: Drywall! And so much more ordering. I have a massive list of sticky notes going with all of our “to-do’s”. This month, we need to order all of the trim (crown molding, baseboards, window/door casing), more light fixtures, ALL of the tile, a whole-house air purifier, and a water softener. Everything else can wait until next month.
Major setback of the month: We had to re-frame two windows in the family room after a miscommunication with our designer. The dimensioned drawings she sent us had a standard 5′ fireplace in the family room. We have two windows flanking the fireplace that we cut in to add light to the space. Near the end of the month, she sent us the dimensioned drawings of the actual fireplace concept with a 7′ fireplace. So the windows had to be moved $$$.

General feelings about the project: When I am at the house, I get one of two feelings: I can either totally see the potential and I feel so excited to live there OR I am completely overwhelmed by how much needs to be done and I start to calculate how much I think we could sell it for in its current condition. Normal.
