Kitchen Inspiration [House Update]

After a year of watching our countdown app tick away the days, we are finally less than 100 days from our estimated end-of-May closing date. We are still in the 2×4 stage of construction, but we anticipate drywall to begin sometime this week. From what I understand, all of the finishes move quickly once drywall is complete. It is going to be so surreal to see all of our design decisions come to fruition! No surprise, the kitchen is what we are most excited about.
Ryne and I love bright, modern spaces with rustic touches so our kitchen will be primarily white. We chose white shaker-style cabinets, white quartz countertops, a Carrara marble backsplash, and dark hardwood floors that will run throughout the house (minus the bathrooms and laundry room). In our beloved townhouse, we replaced all of the carpet with hardwood floors and absolutely loved them, so this was an easy decision for us.
To provide appropriate lighting for our massive kitchen table, we will be hanging two black drum lights over our table similarly to the picture below. We fell in love with these tractor stools and think they will be perfect breakfast bar seating for kids (and adults) who spill. Oh, and we plan to replace the standard kitchen faucet with this dreamy semi-professional spring faucet. Swoon.

Based on what we’ve already purchased, the kitchen is the only area of our home that will be fully furnished when we move in. We’ve gotten a lot of inspiration from Pinterest & Houzz and we have lofty ideas about how we are going to put our own stamp on this place. We’ve been entertaining ideas of a wood feature wall, floating shelves, a coffee bar, and my favorite of all- a chalk wall in the kitchen or in the loft for doodling.

There is nothing better than a white-themed kitchen. Ultimately, a bright and open space makes a great cooking area, and a kitchen with a white palette maximizes that to the fullest – not to mentions it gives an immaculate look. Anyway, your kitchen inspirations look lovely, and I can't wait to see your dream kitchen come to life. Thanks for sharing and kudos to you!

I can’t wait for you to actualize those ideas in your very own kitchen! I bet it will be awesome. It’s been months now though, how is it going? I hope you’re on your way to finishing all your renovations you started since you moved it. I’d be happy to see its progress. Good luck, Melissa! 🙂

Thank you, Debra 🙂 It's actually a newbuild home. I love the idea of a renovation, but don't have the gumption for that at this point in my life. You can see the final product here-> http://littlehammons.blogspot.com/2016/03/kitchen-tour-house-update.html
