Halloween 2017

Happy November! We had the most fun week decorating the house, watching Hocus Pocus and It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown on repeat, and baking (and eating!) all the sweet treats we could! Quinn was so excited for Halloween this year. We wrapped the rails of her bed with halloween lights and she absolutely loved it! Conrad was such a doll on Halloween night and he definitely hit the jackpot with the package of M&M’s he tried to shove in his mouth all at once.

Quinn is officially at the best age for trick or treating. She ran from house to house collecting candy for herself and for “her brother”. We trick or treated until we couldn’t feel our fingers and then went home to eat stew and pass out candy to all the cuties who knocked on our door. We put Conrad to bed then crashed on the couch with wine and watched Hocus Pocus while Quinn took inventory of her candy on the floor. She was up way past her bedtime eating entirely too much sugar!

I also wanted to share a few pictures from our pumpkin carving. Quinn was into it for like 5 minutes, which is fine by me because I’ve always enjoyed the process and it’s easier without little hands insisting on doing the cutting. Carving pumpkins will forever remind me of my dad. When we were kids he’d gut the pumpkin for me (I couldn’t stand the texture of the slime!). He’d salt & roast the seeds for us to snack on and save a few more seeds to plant in our garden for next year. And to this day, my sweet daddyo plants pumpkins in his garden for me (and the kids) to come pick each year. My own precious memories are a sweet reminder of the limited number of hand-holding, pumpkins-carving, face-painting Halloweens we will have with our children. And I fully intend to cherish every single one of them.

Hope you all had a sweet and magical Halloween!!
