Ryne and I recently got away to Napa for our first trip alone in over two years! My dad and step-mom watched the babies while we were out (the best gift!). My step-mom is real life Mary Poppins so the kids camped in the family room, ate entirely too many treats, and had the most fun ever- I’m sure of it! We are so incredibly grateful to have the support of our family close by so we could sneak away together. Ryne and I held hands, slowly sipped delicious wines, and went to bed before 10. My fav!
Where we stayed:
We stayed at the Meritage Resort & Spa (not pictured) just south of downtown Napa. It was sweetly Tuscan in style, clean, and had a fireplace in the lobby for those cool evenings in the valley. Our room had a view of a delightful little vineyard, perched on a hill just beyond the pool. The hotel was well located- just a short 10 minute drive to Main Street Napa, 25 minutes to Yountville, and 45 minutes to St. Helena. The one road in and out of these towns were lined with gorgeous homes & vineyards. Neither of us minded the scenic drives one bit.
Where we ate:
- GRAN ELÉCTRICA
- This place came recommended by a local and we later found out that it is a spinoff of a hot Mexican spot in Brooklyn! We went for dinner on our first night in town. It’s literally on Main Street in downtown Napa, super convenient for strolling local shops before a dinner of tacos and fresh margs (probably a sin in Napa, but worth it!). Highly recommend if you have a hankering for tequila while in wine country.
- Model Bakery
- This cozy bakery is famous for their brick-oven-cooked English muffins & breads, plus sandwiches. There are multiple locations throughout Napa Valley. Ryne and I paused for lunch at the one in St. Helena while spending the day there strolling the local mom & pop shops. We sat at a bistro table just outside the front window and people watched while we had lunch. I had the most amazing veggie sandwich of my life. 10/10 would recommend.
- Cook St. Helena
- This was hands down my favorite place that we ate at! We sat at a patinaed marble bar top. The design reminded me of a restaurant we like to go to in Paris- filled with classic materials and dimly lit. Ryne and I shared a salad and a bottle of rosĂ©. I had the most delicious polenta and Ryne had rabbit gnocchi (he’s a savage).
- Ad Hoc
- Located in Yountville, a posh neighborhood in Napa, is this informal eatery serving up American fare. They offer a set menu every night with one salad, one entree, one cheese board, and one dessert and the option to add on caviar and/or fried chicken. It was different, but delicious especially if you’re craving comfort food.
- Joseph Phelps Winery
- This family-owned and operated winery offers multiple upscale tasting experiences featuring a variety of wines made on property. We came for the wine-tasting and stayed for the stunning views.
I am so grateful to have had a little time away this handsome man of mine! We have a 10-day Hawaiian getaway planned for our anniversary this summer and I can. not. wait!
