October is my favorite month of the year. Watching all the leaves change in our neighborhood is the closest thing to magic on earth. I have been flying solo for the last couple of weeks while Ryne has been traveling for work, so Quinn and I have been making the most of our girl time by enjoying all kinds of fall treats and festive activities.
My cravings have suddenly shifted from salty to sweet. We went to the grocery store the other day and I realized half way through my grocery shop that everything in my cart was primarily made of sugar. Halloween oreos, peppermint patties, caramel dip, white chocolate chips, and heath bar crumbles. Don’t worry, I bought some apples 😉
I’ve been really looking forward to letting Quinn decorate a pumpkin or two, so when Ryne’s flight home was canceled on Friday I surprised Q after school with a little pumpkin painting as pick-me-up for both of us. I wrapped her Ikea play table in newspaper and stocked the table with Crayola washable paints, which both made for easy clean-up. I set out a few easy snacks and stickers and let Quinn go to town.
We made yet another stop at a pumpkin patch, this time at a local church, to pick up a few pumpkins to carve with my mom and youngest sister. Quinn had her pick of any giant orange pumpkin, but chose a tiny white one to take home.
Fortunately, Ryne was able to catch a flight back to the states just in time for Halloween. We need to pick up some more candy for our trick or treaters (since someone ate it all) and carve a couple of pumpkins for our front porch before tomorrow night. I’m bummed I’ll be missing out on all the adult beverages at our neighbor-hosted hot spots, but I’ve never been so excited for trick or treating! Quinn’s not sure what she gets for saying ‘trick or treat’ tomorrow, but she knows she’s excited about it.
