We had the sweetest Easter Sunday. The 18 inches of snow in our yard meant indoor egg hunting and tights under Quinn’s Easter dress, but being in our own home made this year extra special. Ryne and I had every intention of making a cup of coffee, starting breakfast and showering before starting all of the festivities, but Quinn was up much too early for that. Just kidding- we never intended to shower.
As is tradition, we dyed eggs the day before and by morning, Quinn was too excited for words to hunt for eggs. She didn’t even make it to the bottom of the stairs before started collecting eggs in the crook of her arm. She was so intent on finding (and eating) the next treat that she ran right past her Easter basket. She did eventually notice it, but the egg hunting was certainly the highlight of the day!
We ate a late brunch with my mom’s family followed by a lovely Easter dinner with my dad’s family where to my granddad’s delight, he was finally able to sneak his way in to the heart of our shy girl. We love having family close by at the holidays, but it also reminds us how much we miss Ryne’s parents and wish they lived close enough to share these moments with us.
Just for the fun of it, here’s a look back at last Easter. I have a love/hate relationship with seeing how much Quinn has grown. She is old enough now that we are able to talk with her about the meaning of Easter. It makes my heart so happy to hear her little voice talk about Jesus. We are forever thankful for this sweet girl of ours and the gracious gift given to us by our Savior. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter with your families. Here’s to hoping next year is a warm one!
