Less than 7 weeks until we meet our newest baby girl and we are all so excited to welcome her into the world! Ryne and I decided on a first name, which feels amazing! We usually don’t decide until the last minute. Conrad was almost a full day old before we decided on his name! We have a short list of middle names, but nothing definite yet. Baby girl’s nursery is coming along and her closet is finally full of clothes. We pulled all of Quinn’s old baby clothes up from the basement, which brought back so many sweet memories! For some reason, I only found one newborn outfit so we bought a few of these amazing sleepers. I also bought new swaddle blankets and a handful of cutesie things I’m SO excited about that I’ll share in a later post.
As with my other two pregnancies, we are checking off a mile long to do list before baby is born. But we know we will be fine no matter what is left undone when baby is born. Mentally, we are prepared and really just oh so excited to have her in our arms! Here are a few things we have left to do in the countdown:
In the nursery:
Buy a new basket for tiny baby laundry and possibly replace the print above the changer. I love this one, but am not sure I want to shell out the cash for it when the one we have is neutral enough to work with the space. We replaced the rug and the pillow in the glider, which makes it feel like a whole new room. In terms of furniture, the crib, glider and changer will all stay. They are all classic pieces and I love that we’ve used them for all three of our babies! I bought a couple new sheet sets and probably need to pick up a couple of changing pad covers as well. But if it doesn’t happen, we’ll survive.
In the house:
House maintenance and cleaning out the basement are top priorities. Previous alternative option included torching everything in the basement and calling it a day. Lord knows we won’t have time or energy for these things for at least a year after baby arrives, but I am so ready to be done with that project! So far we have purged, cleaned, and organized every cabinet, closet, and dresser in the house. We took advantage of the Container Store Elfa sale at the end of January and built out Conrad’s closet and the playroom closet so we’d have more efficient storage. It’s such a joy to walk in these spaces and not almost die on a rogue toy. Also on the to do list- have windows cleaned, touch-up paint throughout the house, and hang our patio lights to set the vibe for all the patio drinks we plan to enjoy this summer!
In the final days:
Pack our hospital bags and the kids’ overnight bags. Install the carseat. Charge the camera. Grocery shop. Get the car washed. And do all the fun things we can before baby arrives! Hopefully the weather will warm up enough for us to get out on a few family walks, hit the park, and maybe the zoo. Ryne and I have made breakfast dates a regular thing and fully intend to continue brunching all the way up to the end because we know dates are going to be a teensy bit harder to come by with a newborn 🙂
