Our sweet baby boy is ONE! We had so much fun celebrating him. On his birthday, we chose to spend the day just the four us. Conrad took a long nap and took full advantage of the smash cake that Ryne and I baked for him (only took 3 tries). The following weekend, we celebrated him with 40 of our closest family and friends. The party prep was absolutely crazy, but the party turned out to be the most magical first birthday ever!
We themed the party “Wild One”. We placed greenery and white flowers around the party and put gold animals on top of the cakes, which turned out so darn cute. Ryne and I knew we wanted to make the party decor a little extra special so we decided we would try our hand at balloon garland. Yikes! We made two 16-foot balloon garlands with over 500 balloons, which we started blowing up with our mouths (what?) and then moved on to a hand pump (still… what?) and finally broke out the Craftsman air compressor. Worked like a charm! 745534 balloons and a little fishing line later… voila! Balloon garland! We hung them on the stair railing to greet our guests and also over the happy birthday banner above Conrad’s highchair. It looked amazing! But I definitely cried at least once over the balloons.
We really had the best time celebrating our son with all of our sweet family and friends. We ended the day with frosting-plastered hair and an extra long bath. And I ate leftover cupcakes with my coffee for the rest of the week 🙂
