December has flown by! As a direct result of too many places to be and constantly chasing after a toddler I haven’t done a proper job of documenting all of our festivities. We spent the month running from event to event and although it was a bit crazy at times, Quinn loved all of the Christmas fun and so did we.
In the days leading up to Christmas we baked mountains of cookies, made messes only a toddler is capable of, and watched The Polar Express 900 times. We took Quinn and my parents to Zoo Lights, one of our favorite events of the season, where Quinn wanted to touch all of the light displays and was really hoping to see a dinosaur. On Christmas eve, the festivities started early with a day full of wrapping and Christmas movies. We spent a good chunk of the evening decorating cookies for Santa while snacking on sprinkles and frosting. It was all fun and reindeer games until three of Santa’s cookies were eaten by our dog, Daisy. Quinn was far too excited to sleep and we had to read The Night Before Christmas three times before finally getting her settled into bed.
Christmas morning was as magical as ever. Quinn slept in, which was a true Christmas miracle. As she walked down the stairs to see if Santa had come, she said to me, “Shhh, mommy! You have to be quiet. Santa’s sleeping in his big girl bed.” Oh kid, you slay me. She loved opening her presents and wanted to play with/try on every present before moving onto the next… which ended in her opening most of her stocking in just a tutu and a necklace. We ate breakfast, opened our stockings and played all morning over mounds of wrapping paper.
It has been a fun week, but also bittersweet as we packed away all our Christmas decorations until next year. We are so grateful for His abundant blessings. I hope you all had the merriest Christmas and happy New Year!
