We kicked off Christmas eve with the candlelight service at church and then hustled home for an afternoon full of cookie baking. Our counters (and kids!) were covered in flour, but our house was full of joy and it felt like all the magic of Christmas! Quinn was too excited for words all day long. She kept asking where Santa was and wanted to know if it was almost night time. Around sunset, we stopped by my uncles for champagne and hugs from family and then went home to have a quiet dinner just the four of us. We read the night before Christmas and the kids set out our cookies & milk before going to bed for the night. Santa’s helpers worked extra hard in Santa’s workshop for the next few six hours before finally calling it a night themselves. Ryne and I were tired, but there is no sight quite like full stockings and presents tucked under a glowing tree on Christmas Eve night!
Christmas morning was magic. Conrad was still dreaming of sugar plums when Quinn rolled out of bed too excited for words so we decided to let her get a head start on opening presents. She was so full of anticipation and we loved every single minute of it!! Bub woke up just in time for sissy to help him open his gifts. While the kids played in the happy mess of torn wrapping paper, Ryne and I went to the kitchen to make cinnamon rolls and coffee, and then later came back in to open our stockings. Every attempt to make it last a little bit longer! Conrad loved gnawing on his candy cane filled with m&m’s the best and Quinn got her very own tool bench that she played with pretty much all day.
We fully intend to enjoy the festivities as long as possible, which means we’ll be keeping our tree and Christmas lights up until the New Year. Ryne and I love this time of year so much! I hope you all had the most magical Christmas!!
