Happy New Year, friends! We’ve been soaking up lots of downtime as a family during these last two weeks and I can hardly believe the holiday season is officially over! It was bittersweet packing up our Christmas decorations today. I’m eager to get my house back in order, but I already can’t wait until next year.
On Christmas Eve, we made scones for breakfast and snuggled on the couch all morning with a Christmas movie. In the afternoon we showered up and kicked off the festivities at my dad’s house. We threw a roast in the crockpot before we left our house so that it would be ready when we got home and we wouldn’t have to cook. Quinn was overwhelmed with excitement the entire day! To add to the anticipation, we watched Santa travel around the world on the Norad Santa Tracker. After opening a few presents with Quinn’s Papa & Nana, we made our way home around sunset giving ourselves plenty of time to bake and decorate some goodies for Santa! We read The Night Before Christmas and set out Santa’s milk & cookies before tucking Quinn into bed for the night. Ryne and I spent the next few hours working in Santa’s toy shop before crawling into bed ourselves around midnight.
Quinn woke up early Christmas morning and politely peeked her head into our room. She was SO eager to see what Santa had brought her and I loved every minute of it!! This year, the only thing she asked for was a Doc McStuffins doctor kit. She ran downstairs so quickly I could barely get a picture of her. Santa must have strategically placed the doctor kit, because it was the first present she opened 😉 She tore through her presents and stocking and left the CRAZIEST (but joyful!) mess in her trail. Afterwards, we took her new power wheels outside for a quick test drive. A few flurries started falling so we headed inside for a warm-up and coffee. Ryne and I made our way to the kitchen to make breakfast and then came back later to open our stockings and gifts from each other. Anything to extend the magic a little longer! Quinn loved her new bathing suit and gold glitter shoes (that are a size too big). She insisted on wearing both with her Christmas jammies. And she hasn’t been without her doctor kit since the moment she opened it!
In the afternoon, we continued the festivities at my mom’s house where Santa had also visited for Quinn. She loved playing with her 9-year old aunt and Ryne and I loved having a few minutes to relax and chat with family.
I can’t wait to have another little one join in on the fun next year! Time to start getting ready for his arrival 🙂 Wishing you the MERRIEST CHRISTMAS from the Hammons fam!
