Ryne and I took Ivy to Hotel del Coronado last week (my first flight in over six months!). The del is one of our favorite places in the entire world so it was the perfect place to kick off our post-covid travel season.
Even though Ryne and I would have preferred to travel just the two of us, Ivy is still breastfeeding so she got to tag along for a little two-on-one time. The days of traveling with babies are challenging, but we know they are short-lived and someday we will miss them! So we soaked up as much sweetness as we could from our time with our Squeaky Girl. She had a hoot being an only child for the weekend and we couldn’t get enough of her little voice saying “hi” to every passerby or of the cuteness of watching her teeny tiny body waddling up and down the path to the beach.
Where we stayed:
The American seaside legend- Hotel del Coronado. The hotel is over 130 years old and oh so lovely. The grounds are enchanting and the amenities get more magnificent each year. They’ve managed to preserve so much of of the victorian building’s old charm, which means each room is just a little bit different than the next. We’ve stayed in tons of gorgeous rooms, but the room we had this time takes the cake! It had the most incredible wrap around deck, perfect for sharing a bottle of wine and watching the sunset after Ivy went to bed. Fun fact: in high school, Ryne actually asked me to prom by digging “Prom?” into the sand on this beach before sunrise. He’s always been a dreamboat.
Where we ate:
- The Henry
- We actually ate here twice. Once for lunch and once for breakfast. Both were amazing! The dishes are creative twists on the classics. We sat out on their patio, which was well shaded by large umbrellas. Go early. This place was hoppin’!
- Little Frenchie
- Right on Orange Ave, tucked between the cutest little shops. It gives off the feels of a French neighborhood café. Perfect for lunch or or a glass of rosé during happy hour.
- Serea
- We ate here for dinner one night. It is on property and new to the Hotel del. The design is stunning. Their patio is filled with white umbrellas, oversized lanterns, and sweeping views of the sea. The food was delish. Huge portions and a fabulous wine selection.
- Carlos Miguel’s
- This is our first stop every time we’re on the island. It’s tucked back in a courtyard between buildings. The restaurant itself definitely gives off hole-in-the-wall vibes, but their Mexican food is fabulous. I could drink their white queso with a straw (soak in that imagery for a second) and their happy hour margs are only five bucks!
- Sundae’s
- Also on property. Pairs well with baby giggles and a view of the sea on the hotel’s main lawn.
How cute is Ivy in these peach flower sunglasses the Easter bunny brought her? She was obsessed with them and kept asking me to put them on her. Too cute for words!
