Summer is flying by! And we are using any excuse to spend a little extra time outside, soaking up the sunshine that is fading earlier and earlier each day. We took the kids up to the mountains for a long weekend of stories and s’more-making around the campfire. We reserved a campsite where my parents used to take my siblings and I camping when we were kids. It was so special to take my children back to a place that holds all kinds of wonderful memories from my childhood. My dad and step-mom, brother and sister-in-law, and step-sister all came too, which always makes it so much more fun. Ryne and I pitched a tent for the two of us and the kids bunked up with their grandparents in my dad’s pop-up camper. They thought it was hilarious to jump on the beds and Ryne and I practically got date night every night after the kids went to bed. Nothing tops passing off sugared-up kids off to nana and papa and calling it a night 😉 We did lots of exploring, ATV’d around Rollins Pass, and topped off each day with s’mores and games. Quinn climbed on every rock and loved being close to the lake. Conrad toddled around giggling and eating so much dirt.
It was a much needed weekend away from the hustle of life. The rest of our summer is going to be busy, busy. This week Ryne’s brother, sister-in-law, and nephew will be in town (the kids and I will be meeting all of them for the first time!). Ryne and I are headed to Martha’s Vineyard at the end of the month. And we have one more trip planned with the kids before Quinn starts Kindergarten at the end of August! *Cue the ugly crying into one of her baby blankets*
