The holiday season is the perfect time for making magic, and what better way to do that than by getting on an airplane with four kids and seventeen bags in tow 😉 Every December, we visit Hotel Del Coronado for a little festive fun. The twinkling lights, towering Christmas trees, and festive decorations that adorn every corner make this place incredibly magical and we’re always happy to get a little warm-up before winter really sets in in Colorado!
This was George’s first plane ride and he did so well! In fact, traveling with four kids actually wasn’t terribly hard. All three of our big kids are old enough to drag their own bags, which makes things so much easier. Ryne and I packed ourselves and George into one large suitcase. Once we checked all the luggage, it was smooth sailing! Each kid has their own backpack with an iPad, snacks, and a water bottle to carry on the flight. I pushed George through the airport in his carseat/stroller, which doubles as a shopping cart for all the loose items and Ryne dragged a carry-on with a small duffle stacked on top that acted as our diaper bag.
We dotted our weekend schedule with an array of winter wonderland activities that kept our children thoroughly entertained. From skating by the sea to shopping and visiting Santa, there was no shortage of festive fun! Eating is my favorite activity and I’m always well-fed on this island. Check out this post from a few years ago for my favorite Coronado restaurants all walkable from The Del.
We’ve come to The Del almost every December since Quinn was three and it’s always so magical! Next December, I think we’ll do a little more walking (only three weeks after giving birth, I was still feeling a little sore and tired this time) and spend some time at the beach. Can’t wait for baby George to get to enjoy more of the festivities in 2024!
