With less than two weeks until Christmas we have been busy making our lists and checking them twice! This year, we managed to get nearly all of our Christmas shopping done online on Black Friday (including a few furniture items for ourselves for our new house!), which means we are becoming very good friends with our mailman. After weeks of 60 degree weather, we are finally expecting a few inches of snow this weekend. So over the next couple of days I plan to get most of our gift wrapping done with a little hot chocolate in hand and a Christmas movie marathon playing in the background.
When I was a kid, my mom kept Christmas gifts practical with “something you want, something you need, something to wear, and something to read” and my siblings and I could always count on a new toothbrush, a pack of floss, and new undies in our stockings! Quinn already has so much, plus plenty of family who want to spoil her, so we try to limit our gifts to her with a similar philosophy in mind. After much consideration, I narrowed her list to a few items I know she is going to love!
As Quinn’s “big gift” this year, we decided to get her a teepee. She is going to love having her very own little hideout! Plus, I can’t get over how cute it will look in her new big girl room! The bambi doll will make a lovely addtition to her growing colleciton of stuffed animals and the alphabet puzzle is a perfect way to make learning a little extra fun. Quinn is also going to find sugar bubbles in her stocking this year. She gets so excited when she gets to play with them at her gym class on Fridays, so I know they will be a big hit at home! I consider the moccs and bows to be “needs” because she is constantly growing out of her shoes and I am running out of ways to keep her hair out of her eyes, something I’m sure every parent can relate to.
I just know she is going to adore everything Santa puts under the tree for her this year. I can’t wait to see the look on her face when she scoots down the stairs on Christmas morning! Having a kid renews that feeling of childhood magic in life and it is especially apparent this time of year 🙂
