How far along: 31 weeks
Size of Baby Hammons: He is 16 inches and almost 3.5 pounds this week, according to my pregnancy app! We will find out for sure just how big he is at my final ultrasound next week!
Weight gain: As of this morning, I’ve gained 13 pounds total this pregnancy. Which is actually one pound less than I weighed when I wrote my last pregnancy update. I’m not sure why my weight gain has stalled out, but my doc assures me that all women gain weight differently and I’m still within a normal range.
Maternity clothes: Oh yes! Living in sweatpants and maternity leggings and stretching out my non-maternity shirts one by one.
Stretch marks: None yet
Belly button in or out: Out
Sleep: Other than a broken rib that keeps me from sleeping on one side, I’m sleeping great! Poor Ryne, on the other hand, says I snore like a hibernating bear and he may end up sleeping in the guest room until this kid arrives.
Best moment this week: Scheduling little man’s induction! There are two nearby hospitals available to us for delivery. One hasn’t been renovated in several decades and the other just built a brand new, beautiful women’s center. After touring the older hospital, the choice was simple. If he doesn’t decide to come on his own sooner, I’ll be delivering on the 17th of February. Only 56 days to go!
Worst moment this week: Cracking a rib or two. It wasn’t technically this week, but two weeks later I’m still living with the consequences. I slipped in some water on the bathroom floor our last morning at the Hotel Del. Fortunately, I caught myself on the edge of the vanity on my way down. Unfortunately, my ribs took the brunt of the force. I was hoping it was just a bruise but now, two weeks later, I still can’t have any pressure on that side without being in total agony.
Miss anything: Being able to take cold medicine! I caught another cold last week and suffered through it with just tea and rest as treatment. I miss modern medicine so much.
Movement: More like shifting around instead of kicking. But when he does kick- it’s big! Imagine a T-Rex stuck in Santa’s toy bag.
Cravings: Salt
Queasy or sick: See above. Pregnancy immune system at it’s finest. I’m just hoping I’ll manage to stay healthy before the delivery.
Looking forward to: Christmas! We have zoo lights, present wrapping, and tons of baking to look forward to! It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!
