We are in the home stretch of this pregnancy and feeling so excited to meet our last baby! This last week or two are bittersweet. I am still loving every little kick and hiccup and soaking up the magic of growing life inside me. I also can’t wait to wear my regular clothes again, get back to regular exercise (just kidding not that), and have a glass of wine with dinner. And I am so sad this season of my life is nearing a close! It has been magical beyond words and I am incredibly grateful that I was able to experience it four times. What a gift this time has been!
How far along: 38 weeks. I am hoping to make it to the end of this week so I can see Conrad’s fall festival/play and go to all the kids’ Thanksgiving feasts.
Due Date: November 26th. If I don’t go into labor naturally by November 20th, we will induce. I hope to go into labor spontaneously, but there are advantages to inducing like a more controlled environment and a higher probability that I’ll be able to get the epidural this time!
Gender: A boy.
Weight gain: 18ish lbs.
Maternity clothes: Living in my Lululemon leggings and sweaters. My step-mom bought me this sweater in two colors and it’s basically all I wear. When I need to look a little dressy, I throw on some black boots and a camel coat.
Sleep: Falling asleep great, but having a hard time staying asleep. About every other night, I’m awake for a couple of hours between about three and five am. Not the most fun, but I have been able to get a lot done in the middle of the night like making lists of all the things we need to try to get done before the baby arrives and researching all the birth things.
Best moment this month: Prepping a small “baby room” in our upstairs laundry room. We bought this mini crib, hung a quilt over the edge, and added a few stuffed animals. A corner on the counter will act as a changing table. We added a changing pad and filled a few drawers with diapers, wipes, burp cloths, and a few other essentials. I think it turned out so cute!
Worst moment this month: All of us came down with a stomach bug last week. Aside from natural labor, throwing up for 12 hours while 9 months pregnant was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through physically. I was so dehydrated, but couldn’t keep anything down. And the body aches afterward- woof!
Miss anything: Shopping for a regular body, wearing dressy seasonal outfits, and sipping on festive cocktails on date nights.
Movement: I had one day this month when I did not feel baby move. I called my OB and went in for monitoring. It felt so good to hear his heartbeat and get reassurance that he was ok, just sleepy! Outside of that day, he’s been very active.
Cravings: Peppermint mochas and vanilla bean scones.
Looking forward to: I am just so freaking excited to meet our son!! And very grateful that Thanksgiving break is just around the corner. It will give us some much-needed time for the big kids to connect with their new baby brother.
Name considerations: Every time we think we’ve landed on something, we reopen the conversation. The finalists are George James, George Peter, George Arthur, George Walter, and George Linus. George James is my current fav and George Arthur is Ryne’s.
