Happy July! We had a super fun week celebrating our great nation and our NINTH wedding anniversary. We planned a staycation in Cherry Creek and took a few days off of work to celebrate us. It was a perfect mid-week break complete with shopping, french toast, and a long walk through the most charming neighborhood. Our anniversary backs up to the 4th, which makes the whole week feel extra special! Yesterday we kicked off the festivities with red, white & blue pancakes (Quinn was obsessed!!). Both Quinn and Conrad are at fun ages for all the merriment. They each picked a box of sparklers and pop-its from a local firework stand and could barely wait until dusk to light them. We went to my mom’s for lunch and then my dad’s for dinner both for good ‘ol fashioned backyard BBQ’s. We usually bring something simple like watermelon slices cut into star shapes, but my sister-in-law made the sweetest (literally!) red, white & blue dessert made from berries, meringue and raspberry jam. Seriously delicious!! It ended up hailing on our way home from my mom’s and we all had to change into sweatshirts before heading to my dad’s. After a hot, hot week it was a welcome cool down! And of course, it wouldn’t be a summer celebration without a little thunderstorm 😉Happy fourth!! And God bless America- land of the free because of the brave!
