Baby boy will be here 5 weeks from yesterday if he doesn’t come on his own before then and we are busier than ever preparing for his arrival! This week we toured the hospital that he will be born at and Quinn was really sad when we had to leave without baby brother in our arms. She is so excited for him to be a part of our family and she lets me know all the time that “it’s SOOO hard to wait”. He is going to be here before we know it!
How far along: 34 weeks
Size of Baby Hammons: He was measuring a little small at my last ultrasound (32 weeks, 3 days). The ultrasound tech estimated him to be 3lbs 12oz, which is less than the 13th percentile. This week, he is almost 18 inches and about 4lbs 12oz, according to my pregnancy app.
Weight gain: 18lbs as of a few days ago. As of today, only 16 lbs. I know I’ve been behind on my weight gain and getting sick this week didn’t help, but I’m hopeful that I’ll gain back those 2lbs once I’ve had a few days of health under my belt. I gained 28 pounds total in my pregnancy with Quinn. With only 5 weeks to go, I don’t think I’ll quite catch up.
Maternity clothes: I’ve given up on my maternity jeans. It will be stretchy shirts, oversized sweaters, and leggings for me from here on out.
Stretch marks: No new ones, but the three I developed in my pregnancy with Quinn are purple once again.
Belly button in or out: Out
Sleep: I’m starting to have a hard time getting comfortable at night. Mix in the mid-night bathroom runs and sleep is a little rough these days.
Best moment this week: Washing all of baby’s clothes, blankets, and linens. We’re finally feeling the push to get everything ready for little man’s arrival. Having so much fun checking off our checklist!
Worst moment this week: Missing out on our annual post-Christmas trip to Maui because I’m too far along to fly over an ocean. That and food poisoning at 34 weeks pregnant. It’s been quite the week.
Miss anything: Ice, heat, and ibuprofen. My back pain has improved so significantly since having surgery last February, but pregnancy leaves me with few options to manage my back pain when I do have it.
Movement: Movement has slowed down recently, but he was particularly active when I was not feeling well this week. It was nice to know he was doing alright even when I felt like dying.
Cravings: Scones! I’ve made them every Saturday since Christmas Eve. Throw in some raspberry or huckleberry jam. Yum! And milk. Which is wild because I’m normally not a big fan.
Labor signs: I’ve been awoken two separate nights now with painful contractions that were only a few minutes apart. Both times, they subsided after an hour or so. I think he’s just gently reminding me that he’ll be here soon and we need to get moving on our lengthy to-do list!
Looking forward to: Quality time with my girl and a few date nights with Ryne in the final month of this pregnancy.
