Three months or less until our baby boy is here! His official due date is February 21st, but my OB will induce me on the 14th or 15th. Truth be told, we’ve barely started preparing for his arrival. We have a handful of newborn clothes, but haven’t purchased a single blanket, hat, or diaper for him. We don’t plan to change out any of the big furniture items we used with Quinn, so that helps, but we don’t have any textiles or decor for his room yet. I’m sure my nesting instincts will kick in with a vengeance after Christmas.
How far along: 26 weeks
Gender: boy
Weight gain: 14 lbs.
Maternity clothes: Still layering maternity clothes with regular clothes (and wearing some of my husband’s tees to bed).
Stretch marks: No new ones
Belly button in or out: The top half is poking out a bit and the bottom half is as flat as a pancake.
Sleep: Better- sleeping through the night again, but it’s sooooo hard to not sleep on my back. I catch myself on my back all the time and then wonder to myself how long I’ve been there.
Best moment this week: Putting up our Christmas tree and Christmas lights in preparation for all the winter festivities ahead. Last night, while praying before bed, Quinn asked God to bring us train tracks so we could live with Santa.
Worst moment this week: Probably a three way tie between flying solo again while Ryne was traveling for work, Quinn punting a full glass of water off the side table in our family room, and cleaning up dog vomit at 2am.
Miss anything: Sleeping on my back. Being able to dress appropriately for any given occasion (sweatpants for the win).
Movement: Lots of movement! We’re so entertained watching and feeling him roll around while we are laying in bed at night. He is definitely a night owl- mostly moving late at night, when I wake in the middle of the night, and first thing in the morning when I open my eyes. A little preview, I’m sure, of our sleep schedule to come.
Cravings: Recently switched from everything salty to everything sweet. Cinnamon sugar toast, cereal, and chocolate milk are my go-to’s right now with a few random things thrown in like pop-tarts and wings. Not together 😉
Queasy or sick: Feeling healthy!
Looking forward to: Spending time with family and stuffing my face with turkey, pie, and all the trimmings next week. Maternity clothes are perfect for Turkey Day feasting.
